South African seam bowler Vernon Philander has broken his teammate Dale Steyn's record as the fastest South African to reach 100 wickets in Test cricket after dismissing Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan on the third morning of the first Test at the Wanderers.
Philander, who also became the sixth fastest bowler in Test cricket history to reach the milestone, is playing in his 19th Test while Steyn reached 100 wickets in his 20th Test.
According to Sport24, South Africa was bowled out for 244, 36 behind India's first innings total of 280, while India was on 25/1 in their second innings, a lead of 61 runs at 12:16.
