Taking note of the alleged rape case of a girl in the Pilanji village area, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Barkha Shukla Singh on Sunday cornered the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government for making tall claims about women security in the national capital.
"The Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) priority was women's safety and today everything has vanished. They only see LG, Centre and Congress. Rest they are not concerned with the people of Delhi, Delhi's women and their issues. They made big promises of security," she said.
The DCW chief also highlighted the recent incident of sexual assault case being registered against AAP MLA Somnath Bharti.
"The wife of Somnath Bharti (Lipika Mitra) who herself has been so brutally abused, cried in front of media, showed her marks. But when they couldn't help her then how they can save the women of Delhi," she said.
Singh, who met the victim and her family members at the Safdarjung Hospital here, said that the girl has been brutally raped.
"The incident took place between 9.30 and 10 at Pilanji village in a building where only tenants live. There are around 110 rooms in that. The girl's father is a chowmein seller and her mother is also in a similar kind of profession," said Singh.
"The child's father says he had met her at 9: 30 and bought a toffee for her. Her mother says that the girl came back between 9:30-10, drenched in blood. The way she has been brutally raped, chances of her being able to even walk are bleak," she added.
