Premier League boss Richard Scudamore has reportedly been forced to apologize publicly for making sexist comments, which were revealed following a media investigation.

The chief executive said sorry for crude remarks made to other leading figures in British football.

According to the Mirror, Scudamore said that the emails, which have been accessed, were private and had been exchanged between his colleagues and friends of many years.

Scudamore said the emails had been sent and received from his private and confidential email, which a temporary employee should not have and had been under no instructions to do so.

However, the Premier League chief executive said that he accepts that the contents were inappropriate and apologised for any offence caused, particularly to that temporary employee, adding that it had been an error of judgment that he would not make again.
