Alleging that the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) are facing problems post demonetisation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reached out to the voters of Uttar Pradesh and said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will end gunda raj' in the state if it is voted to power.

Prime Minister Modi, who has been drawing flak for the Centre's demonetisation drive, said that the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party have for the first joined hands to oppose the fight against black money.

"The Samajwadi Party and BSP are for the first time together and opposing the demonetisation drive. I fail to understand that why are they having problem with our fight against black money," he said.

Prime Minister Modi, who addressed the 'Parivartan rally' here via phone as his helicopter couldn't land due to foggy weather, further said the BJP is committed to empower the poor and is consistently tracing people who have stashed black money.

"For Uttar Pradesh to progress, poverty and 'gunda raj' needs to be removed," he said.

Asserting that his fight against black money and graft would go on, Prime Minister Modi also used the occasion to lambast the opposition for not allowing him to speak on the demonetisation issue in Parliament.

"They (opposition) come to the Well of the House...throw paper at the Speaker. We want to put forth the government's view point...but they are not allowing us to do so," he said.
