Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded great warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on his 368th birth anniversary.
Prime Minister Modi took to Twitter to extend his wishes in Marathi language.
"I wish everyone on the anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. India is proud that a braveman and great personality like him was born on this land," the Prime Minister tweeted.
In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister further said that the well-being of the people was the top priority of the 'ideal ruler' and 'great administrator'.
Shivaji Bhonsle was a great warrior King of Marathas. He carved a niche for himself with his guerrilla tactics, established the Maratha kingdom and fought Mughals.
The day is also known as Shiv Jayanti and is being celebrated with traditional fervour in Maharashtra.
