Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday talked about his government's emphasis on skill development.

"We have given importance to skill development. We created a separate ministry for skill development," Prime Minister Modi told the Indian-American community at New York's Madison Square Ground.

Prime Minister Modi said that his government started the 'Jan Dhan Yojna'.

"We said we will start zero balance accounts, but people started it with a total sum of Rs. 1500 crore," he added.

The Prime Minister, who admitted that his superb victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls had come with a big responsibility for him, said that his government will be 100 percent successful in fulfilling the aspirations of the people.

"Winning elections brought with it a big responsibility......Ever since I took up this task (as the Prime Minister), I have not taken even a 15-minute vacation," he added.

Promising good governance, Prime Minister Modi said India has got a government at the Centre with a clear majority after a gap of 30 years.

The Prime Minister, who addressed the gathering in Hindi, amidst repeated chants of 'Modi-Modi', also spoke on the development that India must undertake.

"My effort is to make development a mass movement like the Indian freedom struggle. I am confident that we will succeed in this," he said.
