Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid his tributes to Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore on his 154th birth anniversary.
"Today we pay homage to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, one of India's greatest thinkers. His prose and poetry have influenced generations.
He represents the best of Modern and Ancient Indian intellectual thought," said Prime Minister Modi.
"Gurudev Tagore blended the wisdom of India's past with a promise of its future through his Literature, Art and Music. He taught us the power of free thinking while inspiring us to dream of a 'Heaven of Freedom' where the mind is without fear and the head can be held
high," he added.
"We proudly remember Gurudev Tagore's immense contribution in the making of our Nation," the Prime Minister further said.
