Addressing a rally in Hisar, Haryana on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that his government is running with the support of the 1.25 billion strong population of the nation, and added he did not need the support of people in jail to administer. He was apparently making an indirect reference to former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala, who has been in jail for his role in a teacher recruitment corruption scam.

The Prime Minister also congratulating all players from Haryana who had won medals and made India proud at the recent 17th Asian Games held in Incheon, South Korea.

Taking a dig at Chautala's statement at a recent rally that he would take oath as the state chief minister from jail, Prime Minister Modi said, "Some people are spreading lies. Some are dreaming of taking oath from the jail, showing old photos with them taken in a certain program."

Talking of his party's work, he said, "The BJP is working for good governance, therefore, my supporters should be wary of people spreading rumors."

Talking on incumbent Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, he said, "Hooda has accepted defeat. Despite the Model Code of Conduct, land deals of 'daamad' (Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra) were finalized because they know that after the results are announced, he won't be given anything."

"Congress should look at our Rail Budget. What they couldn't do for so long, we did in our first budget," he added.

To take the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' forward, PM Modi said, "On 14th November, when we celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Pandit Nehru, all the schools should be given lessons on cleanliness."

"The government will run cleanliness campaigns in every school and Anganwadi from 14th November till 19th November, the birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi," he added.

Saying that as Congress has nothing to do as of now; they should also join the cleanliness campaign.

Announcing to give 'soil health card' to farmers, he said, "Farmers must get appropriate price for their produce. Government will give 'soil health card' to every farmer so that crop isn't wasted."

Taking a dig at Congress, PM Modi said, "What did Congress do about One Rank-One pension? It is BJP that has begun work on this"

"In Haryana there have been so many instances of gang rape of Dalit girls. Nation doesn't need a government where our mothers and sisters aren't safe," he added.

"A party (Congress) headed by a woman and still so many instances of rapes here (Haryana)? We need a government where women are safe and treated with dignity," he concluded.

Earlier, he also addressed a rally in Sangli.

Maharashtra will go to polls on October 15 along with Haryana while the counting in both states will be held on October 19.
