Congress party on Tuesday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to break his 'selective silence' over alleged corruption in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Talking to media persons here, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said, "A corruption tsunami has taken winds out of the sails of the PM Modi's so-called anti-corruption boat." "The PM is seen visibly rattled and upset at his election rallies."
"He has not uttered a single word after his ministers were allegedly named in the affidavit for their involvement in corruption. The PM has mastered on how to keep selective silence," added Singhvi.
CBI DIG Manish Kumar Sinha, the officer investigating the bribe case against CBI Special Director Rakesh Asthana, has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against his transfer to Nagpur. Sinha, who claims that his transfer was made arbitrarily, has also alleged in the affidavit that a Minister of State took a few crores as a bribe to help a businessman, who was facing the CBI investigation.
"Will the MoS, who is named in the affidavit, give more than a one-piece denial? Will the PM tell him to give an explanation and will he show the courage of conviction," asked Singhvi. "What does the Prime Minister have to say that a separate MoS is asked to settle a matter involving this MoS," he added.
