Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday thanked Queensland Premier Campbell Newman and Brisbane Mayor Graham Quirk for hosting a reception for him at the City Hall.
The Prime Minister took to twitter to express his appreciation of the gesture by the two Australian leaders.
"My thanks to Premier Campbell Newman and Lord Mayor Graham Quirk for the excellent reception!" he wrote, posting a photograph of the function.
He also retweeted a post by Newman on the same.
"Fantastic to welcome @narendramodi to Brisbane City Hall to talk QLD/India relationships," Newman had written.
Prime Minister Modi also addressed the Indian-Australian community at the civic reception and received a rousing response from the gathering.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi, who is in the Australian city for the two-day long G-20 Summit, unveiled a statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Brisbane's Roma Street Parkland.
The Prime Minister travels to Sydney on Sunday where he will address the Indian diaspora, before visiting Canberra and Melbourne. On November 18, he leaves for Fiji, which is the final leg of his three-nation trip.
