The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has warned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan that it will take legal action for leveling 10 billion rupees bribe allegations on the party leadership allegedly to stay silent in the Panama case.
Punjab government spokesman Malik Ahmed Khan said Imran should reveal the identity of the person who allegedly offered him Rs.10 billion bribe.
"If he (Imran) does not provide the name in three days, we will file a defamation notice against him and file a claim in the Court of competent jurisdiction," Geo News quoted Malik, as saying.
Meanwhile, defending the PTI chief, Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Mehmood-ur-Rehman said the entire nation knew that Imran did not lie.
He challenged Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to file a lawsuit against Imran, saying that the PTI chief will will fight the case in the court.
"You might have several political differences with Imran Khan but the entire nation knows he does not lie," Rehman said.
The PTI chairman had earlier this week alleged that he had been offered Rs 10 billion to stay silent in the Panama case but refused to name the person who had offered the bribe.
"Just imagine how much money he offered me to be silent. Rs.10 billion. If he can offer me this much money, just imagine how much he would offer to others. That is why if we don't maintain public pressure on this issue, then after two months it will be dragged to next year," he said.
Rejecting Imran's claims, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif called him a 'liar'.
Shahbaz discarded Imran's claims, saying that the PTI chief has set a record of telling lies.
