The Bangalore police on Monday announced a reward for credible information leading to the detection of the culprits behind the explosion that rocked the city.

The police were referring to an explosion triggered by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on Sunday evening, which led to the death of one person, with a further three injured.

"It has been decided to offer a reward of Rs. 10 lakhs to any individual who gives credible information to the police which should lead to the eventual detection of this case. We will ensure that there is complete confidentiality of identity of the person, he need not fear for anything," Bangalore Police commissioner M N Reddi told ANI.

Reddi further said that the police are trying to establish if there was any involvement by former Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activists, who had escaped from a prison in Khandwa last year.

"Some ex-SIMI activists have escaped from the Khandwa jail. We are looking at whether there is any involvement of these people in this particular incident," he said.

Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh stated that the Centre has offered help to the Karnataka government with regards to the incident. Terming the blast as a terror attack, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju had stated that security needs to be beefed up with a high level of alertness.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced compensation for the kin of the deceased and to those who were injured in the incident.
