Police reveals identity of student killed by white tiger at New Delhi zoo

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Delhi, M. S Randhawa on Tuesday revealed the identity of the deceased class 12 student mauled by a white tiger and stated that the matter relating to his death is being probed.

Identifying the deceased as Maksood and a resident of Delhi, the DCP said, "It is a matter of enquiry as to how he fell into the trenches. Cause of his death will be known after post-mortem...The matter is being probed, and will reveal details after investigation."

Randhawa also stated that the victim's age was yet to be verified although he said that it appeared that he could be in the age group of 19-20 years.

Earlier this afternoon, according to an eyewitnesses account a white tiger at the New Delhi Zoo had killed the youth after the he fell into the tiger's enclosure.

Reports quoted the zoo manager, Riaz Khan, as claiming that the victim had leapt inside the enclosure before being attacked.
