Congress, BJP positive about PM Modi's U.S visit

Cutting across party lines, leaders of both the Congress Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have expressed hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the United States (U.S) will revitalize bilateral relations between India and the U.S.

"This visit will energize Indo-U.S. relation and open a new chapter of ties between the two nations. We are looking at it very positively. The Americans are quite excited. We hope to see a lot of investments coming into India," BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh told ANI here.

The Congress also came around to back the Prime Minister's scheduled U.S visit and said that the entire nation was with him.

"When the Prime Minister travels, the entire country unites behind him, we wish him well and wish that he represents the country effectively," Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said.

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit the U.S. later this week, where, among other things, he will address the United Nations General Assembly and a rally of Indian Americans at New York's Madison Square Garden before holding talks with U.S President Barack Obama in Washington.
