Politicians and their relatives anxiously await results of 2014 election

While attending a family gathering, the niece of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Murli Manohar Joshi, Guddi expressed her enthusiasm and said looking at the exit polls she was confident that her uncle and senior BJP leader Joshi would come out with flying colours from his constituency.

"All workers of Bharatiya Janata Party have worked very hard and we are waiting for the 16th May. That day will be a day of celebration for us. I am confident that Murli Manohar Joshi will win this Kanpur Parliamentary seat," said Guddi.

Meanwhile, singer turned politician Babul Supriyo who is BJP candidate from Asansol parliamentary constituency in West Bengal shared his experience of electioneering and bonding with people on the streets.

"I felt excellent in meeting my actual audience, actual people. As a singer I am on stage, I meet and interact with people but that's limited but here when you are on the streets walking through neighbourhood. These are the actual people who ask for autographs," said Supriyo.

Leader of Congress Party, B. S. Gnanadesikan, downplayed the exit polls showing clear majority to Narendra Modi.

"Normally in 2004 and 2009 both pre poll and exit poll was proved wrong. In fact they under estimated the Congress seats but with the results they saw the reverse, Congress crossed more than 200 seats and BJP failed to cross 200 seats and we formed the government," he said.

After voting ended for nine-phased general election on Monday, exit polls predicted that the BJP and its allies would touch the half-way mark in the new house of Lok Sabha.
