Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari on Sunday said the assembly polls results have proved that people have rejected Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, and instead have accepted Narendra Modi leadership.

"These polls have proved one thing that the Congress is being rejected by the people. People have voted against them, because of their misrule, price rise and corruption. Instead people have accepted the BJP and Narendra Modi leadership. It is proved in these polls. Similarly, people have rejected Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi's leadership," Gadkari told media on the BJP's performance in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and Chhattisgarh.

On the BJP forming government in Delhi, with support of the AAP, he said, "I have full confidence that we will get a majority to form the government. There is no question of taking support from anyone as we are sure to get a majority,"

"In Delhi, the BJP has definitely improved its tally, but we were expecting more seats. We never thought AAP would get so many seats, but we congratulate them for this."

The BJP is currently leading in three of the four states that had polls between November 11 and December 4. It is expected to get a majority in Delhi, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. In Chhattisgarh, latest reports indicate a close contest and outcome between the BJP and the Congress.

Vote counting is still on in the four states amidst tight security and the final results are expected to be announced later this afternoon.
