Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who today inaugurated the fully automatic Cattle Feed Plant here, on Monday said the focus must be to increase per capita milk production and added that positive results can be achieved only when the government and cooperative work together.
"The government is doing well but a lot can be done. Focus must be to increase the per capita milk production. Here, in SUMUL we see the positive results that can be achieved when 'sahkar' and 'sarkar' work together," he added.
He also remembered Morarji Desai on the occasion and said the SUMUL Cattle feed plant is closely linked with the country's fourth prime minister.
"The stretch from Umbergaon to Ambaji has been transformed and this has benefited the tribal communities of Gujarat. SUMUL has empowered several people in the nearby areas. SUMUL is also closely linked with Morarjibhai Desai," said Prime Minister Modi.
"I have worked here in this area for a long time. I have also come here as the Chief Minister but the gathering today is very big. Thank you for coming," he added.
Surat District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited popularly known as Sumul is on a major expansion spree.
SUMUL, which has made efforts to make cattle feed more balanced, nutritional and therapeutic, is expanding its cattle feed production with addition of new 500 metric tonne plant at Bajipura in Tapi district at the cost of Rs. 300 crore.
