President condoles passing away of RR Patil

Patil passed away on February 16 at the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai due to multiple organ failure

President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday extended his deepest condolences to the family of former Maharashtra home minister RR Patil.

The President, in his condolence message to the NCP leader's wife, Suman Patil, stated that India has lost a leader who was always in touch with the grassroots of society.

"I am saddened to learn about the passing away of Shri R.R. Patil. Patil served the state of Maharashtra as deputy chief minister, home minister and member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. His immense contribution to the welfare of the state of Maharashtra will always be remembered. In his death, the nation has lost a leader who was always in touch with the grassroots of society," the message read.

"I pray to the Almighty to give your family and you the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and convey the same to all members of your family," it added.

Patil passed away on February 16 at the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai due to multiple organ failure. According to reports, the 57-year-old was suffering from oral cancer and was receiving regular chemotherapy for the same.
