President Pranab Mukherjee has condoled the loss of lives caused by the derailment of the Muri Express near Sirathu in Uttar Pradesh's Kaushambi District.
"I am sad to learn about the derailment of a train in Kaushambi District in which some persons have lost their lives and many others are injured. I understand rescue and relief
operations are underway," the President said in his message to Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik on Monday.
"I call upon the state government and other authorities to provide all possible aid to the bereaved families who have lost their near and dear ones as well as medical assistance to the injured...Please
convey my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. I wish speedy recovery to the injured persons," he added.
At least four people were killed and dozens injured when several coaches of the Jammu-bound Muri Express derailed near Sirathu.
