President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday paid floral tributes to former president Dr. Zakir Hussain at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on the occasion of the latter's birth anniversary.
President Mukherjee and officers and staff of the Rashtrapati Bhavan paid the tributes at Dr. Hussain's portrait in the Ashoka Hall.
Dr. Hussain, who served as the country's third president from May 13, 1967 till his death on May 3,1969, was the first Muslim in India to be elevated to that post.
He had also been awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1963.
