President Pranab Mukherjee will preside over the two-day Conference of Governors from today at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
This is the 45th Governors' Conference and the second such Conference to be presided over by Mukherjee.
Twenty-six Governors and three Lt. Governors of the States and Union Territories will attend the Conference.
The Vice President, the Prime Minister and the Union Ministers of Defence, Finance, Home Affairs, Law and Justice, External Affairs, Tribal Affairs, Human Resource Development, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission and Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region will also participate.
The focus of deliberations will be external and internal security environment, development issues in scheduled areas and north eastern region, improving the quality of higher education and making disaster management more effective.
