A man from the UK was caught with a prostitute in his car, who he claimed was helping him buy tomatoes.

Muhammad Ikhlaq from New Street, Dudley, took out 20 pounds from a cash machine when police noticed the lady - a known prostitute - sitting in his car.

When approached by the cops, the 39-year-old said that he had drawn out the money to pay for the tomatoes, the Daily Star reported.

However, the excuse didn't hold and Ikhlaq was found guilty of soliciting and was slapped with a 400-pound-fine and ordered to pay another 665 pounds in costs.

Walsall cop PC Stacey Paterson said that she has heard some excuses before but in the 10 years that she has been a police officer but has never heard such an excuse.
