The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statements reflect 'desperation and panic' in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and added that he should uphold the dignity of his post.
"Today BJP is losing Delhi badly. The opinion polls are showing that the AAP is sweeping Delhi elections. This shows desperation, this shows they are panicking and that is why the Prime Minister is behaving like leader of the BJP rather than as the Prime Minister of the country," AAP spokesperson Ashutosh told ANI.
"I am today very pained to hear what the Prime Minister has said. The Prime Minister should realise that he holds a post, people expect dignity from him. He cannot behave like a Prime Minister of the BJP," he added.
Ashutosh further said that the AAP was born to eradicate corruption from the politics.
"When he casts aspersions on a political party, he should realise that the Aam Aadmi Party is born to eradicate the corruption in public life, in political parties and in elections," Ashutosh said.
Meanwhile, AAP leader Atishi Marlena also echoed similar views and said, "It reflects the desperation of the BJP, they know they are losing in Delhi."
Both leaders were reacting to statements made by Prime Minister Modi earlier in the day during an election rally in Rohini. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that AAP is a 'temporary party' and accused them ruining Delhi for a year.
"Congress ruined your 15 years, then there was a temporary party-they ruined the city for a year, now it's our responsibility to rectify the mistakes of 16 years," Prime Minister Modi had said.
