Kate Middleton beat her husband Prince William in a sailing race off the coast of Auckland on the fourth day of their three-week Down Under tour.
The race started after the royal couple met with Royal New Zealand Air Force servicemen and women on the morning of Friday, April 11, Us magazine reported.
The couple, who previously have raced dragon boats on their Canada tour three years ago, were pitted against each other on two 80-foot sloops.
The Duchess, 32, was in NZL 68, Team New Zealand's former training boat, while Prince William, 31, joined NZL 41, which previously raced under the Japanese flag in the Louis Vuitton series.
Eric Haagh, the skipper of the Duke's boat said that William was very competitive right from the start of the race, and didn't want to lose.
He added that the Duke was nonetheless a good sport about it and when Kate won both the races, he just said that at least she'll be happy.
