The prosecutor at Oscar Pistorius' murder trial has said that the Paralympic runner is 'concocting his evidence' during his cross-examination.

Prosecutor Gerrie Nel said that Pistorius' version of events is 'untrue', adding that his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp was trying to leave the athlete's house in Pretoria following an argument, when he shot her dead.

Nel said that the fact Steenkamp was in the middle of getting dressed in order to leave due to the fact that a pair of her jeans was lying on the bed, but Pistorius denied it, the BBC reported.

Pistorius said he fired his gun after mistaking Steenkamp for an intruder in his house on the early hours of Valentine's Day last year, although he admitted that he did kill her.

The prosecutor then reportedly pointed to the forensic evidence, which revealed that Steenkamp had eaten within a couple of hours of her death, but Pistorius said that the couple had last eaten together at about 19:00 hours, some eight hours before she was shot dead.

While giving testimony to the court on Friday, Pistorius had said that Steenkamp did not scream or shout when he grabbed a gun and fired the shots through a door in the toilet that killed her.

However, Pistorius said that he could not explain why his girlfriend had not shouted out, adding that there was no row and the couple had a quiet evening together, before he woke up on hearing a noise in the bathroom.

Meanwhile, the prosecution witnesses have testified to hearing a woman scream, but the defence is disputing their testimony, the report added.
