Proteas media urges side to 'infuse' Pak-born Imran Tahir in Dubai Test against Pak

The South African media has advised the team to infuse unpredictable leg-spinner Imran Tahir into their attack as they are facing a 'win or bust' situation in the second Test against Pakistan in the UAE.

According to Sport24, the first order of business for the touring team is to get to Dubai, where the second and final Test starts on Wednesday, and regroup after their seven-wicket Abu Dhabi thrashing which broke their sequence of 15 unbeaten Tests.

Although the report said that there is not need for alarm yet as a levelling victory would provide a satisfying enough series outcome given that pace-friendly teams struggle in sub-continental conditions, the Proteas' spin department should however, add Pakistan-born Tahir to its ranks as a 'likely' solution to the slow-bowling problem.

Although Tahir has an expensive bowling average of 50 after 11 Tests and plays a certain quota of long-hops and full-tosses, the report also said that he however, offers a greater possibility of producing sublime deliveries at times as compared to Robin Peterson, who has failed to take any wickets in the Abu Dhabi Test.

The report further said that without the benefit of awareness of the pitch that will greet the Proteas in Dubai, Tahir simply has to be gambled upon because South Africa have no choice but to dismiss Pakistan twice.
