South African team will spend two days working with former wicketkeeper Mark Boucher's rhinoceros preservation charity, before journeying to Centurion for training on Sunday ahead of their first Test against Australia.
The Proteas wrapped up a productive three-day clash with a Combined XI at the Wanderers on Thursday, the same venue for Australia's two-day intra-squad fixture that started on Friday.
Wicketkeeper AB de Villiers termed it the perfect way to slow things down before a hectic three-Test series, and added that he is really looking forward to being close to rhinos.
He said he could not think of a better place to go for a couple of days, just to get away from everything before a big Test series, News.com.au reports.
Proteas bowling coach Allan Donald said the break from cricket and hype ahead of the series was similar to 2012, when his side usurped England at the top of the ICC's Test rankings after a wilderness camp in Switzerland.
