Pune Police has filed an application in a Pune court for withdrawal of cases against former Chairman and Managing Director of Bank of Maharashtra (BoM), Ravindra Marathe, and other top officials of the bank in connection with the wrong disbursement and sanctioning of loans to a Pune-based builder, DS Kulkarni.

The police filed an application in the Pune Sessions Court on Saturday seeking the removal of their names from the FIR. Furthermore, the Police mentioned in their application that no sufficient evidence was found against the top bank officials to frame charges.

Meanwhile, Kulkarni and others are already in custody for cheating the investors and are being investigated.

The former BoM chairman was arrested by Pune Police on June 20 in connection with the case but was later granted bail against a surety amount of Rs 50,000.

Over ten days after the arrest, Marathe was ousted as the chairman and managing director of the state-owned lender.

In addition to Marathe, BoM Executive Director Rajendra Gupta, Zonal Manager Nityanand Deshpande, and ex-Chief Managing Director Sushil Muhnoot were also arrested in connection with the case.
