World No. 3 PV Sindhu lost to World No. 15 Nozomi Okuhara of Japan 15-21, 18-21 in the Women's singles at the Thailand Open 2018.
Sindhu lost to Okuhara in straight sets in a match that lasted for 50 minutes.
The Indian Olympian did build some speed in her second set since she failed to get some in the first. However, she fell short of Okuhara's speed and conceded defeat.
With this match, Sindhu now has a 5-6 win-loss record against her Japanese opponent.
On a related note, the last time Sindhu met Okuhara at the All England Championship, the Olympian defeated the Japanese in the Quarter Final stage.
Sindhu had swept aside Okuhara by scoring in three sets 20-22, 21-18, and 21-18 in a nail-biting contest that lasted for an hour and 24 minutes here at the Arena Birmingham.
