PV Sindhu to take on Sun Yu in China Open final

Rio Olympic silver medallist P.V Sindhu will today take on Sun Yu of China in the summit clash of China Open badminton here.

The ace Indian shuttler yesterday continued her imperious form as she survived an early scare from sixth-seed Sung Ji Hyun to book her place in the finals of the tournament.

After losing the first game by a huge margin, the seventh-seed rebounded strongly to register a 11-21, 23-21, 21-19 win over her South Korean opponent in a gruelling semi-final contest that lasted for around an hour and a half.

Seventh seed Sindhu defeated sixth seeded Sung Ji Hyun of Korea 11-21, 23-21, 21-19 in a thrilling contest yesterday. This was Sindhu's sixth win over Ji Hyun in nine encounters.

Meanwhile, Sun Yu booked her place in the summit showdown following her 21-8, 23-21 victory of fifth-seed TAI Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipie in last-four contest.

Sindhu, the two-time bronze medallist at World Championship, Sindhu is just one step away from her maiden Super Series Premier title.
