A 32-year-old fisherman, Karthikeyan, from the Tirupalikdi village in Tamil Nadu, was allegedly shot dead on Monday by the Qatar security forces while fishing in waters off the coast of Bahrain.
Reports say three fishermen from Ramanathapuram District were also arrested by Qatar Police.
Fishermen from Rameswaram have reportedly urged the Indian Government to bring back Karthikeyan's body at the earliest and to ensure the release of the arrested fishermen.
Local authorities have also reportedly been approached for help.
