Years after performing in concerts and playback for movies, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan went back to school earlier this week and that too at Oxford to receive an honorary shield.
Khan also performed at one of the university's most historic venues, the Holywell Music Room, reports the Dawn.
According to his PR representative, the Holywell Music Room is "the oldest music room of Europe, made in the 17th century, which was specially opened up for Khan sahib."
"The biggest composers and musicians of the UK & Europe of the last three centuries have made music in that room. It's historically a very prestigious place," they added.
Reportedly, the 42-year-old singer's performance was part of a pre-planned jamming session with the 'Fusion Project,' an ensemble of students from Oxford University who strive to revive and make accessible the beauty of Indian Classical Arts.
It is to mention. the 'Fusion Project's latest track was a mash-up of Eddie Vedder's 'Hard Sun' and 'Allah Hoo,' one of the most iconic tracks from the repertoire of his legendary uncle, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
