Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday raised questions over the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, asking why funds have not been set aside for the same.
"My main question is that firstly the Member of Parliament has almost 700-750 villages. The idea of Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana is fine, but I don't understand two things, firstly, that my duty is development of all villages and not just one. Secondly, we have not been given any funding for this scheme," Rahul Gandhi said to the media.
"I have heard it for the first time that a scheme has been started for which no funding has been done," he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana on Independence Day. The scheme sees parliamentarians choose one village each from the constituencies that they represent, fix parameters and make it a model village by 2016.
