Opining that the presence of women is less in the organisation at present, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday told his party cadres that he favoured 50 percent representation to women in the AICC and other party fora.

Interacting with the media here after Gandhi held a formal interaction with the newly-appointed office bearers, Congress spokesman Bhakta Charan Das said that Rahul Gandhi's statesman-like qualities would be seen by the entire nation in the coming days.

"Rahul Gandhi's statesmanlike qualities are evident from the way he is taking interest in land issues and every issue of the society and in the way Rahul Gandhi has the power to walk along with all the party leaders. And in the coming days, the entire nation will witness this," he said.

Gandhi is said to have chalked out a strategy to tackle the challenges ahead as the Congress Party gears up for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

The upcoming assembly elections in the four states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Delhi also pose a major challenge to the ruling party at the Centre.
