Following the huge outrage over the gangrape and murder of two Dalit sisters in Badaun, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will meet the girls' family members today. The teenage Dalit sisters who went missing from their home were found hanging from a tree in their village three days ago.
The gruesome incident sparked widespread condemnation of the way it was handled by the authorities. Many activists including former IPS officer Kiran Bedi slammed the government for its inability to maintain law order.
Former Uttar Pradesh CM Mayawati too referred to the state as a 'jungle raj' and demanded President's rule in the state.
