The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday fired a fresh salvo at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and accused him of not fulfilling his duties towards the country, and thus, "shaming the nation".

BJP spokesperson G.V.L. Narsimah Rao said the Gandhi scion has no hesitation in standing with anti-national forces.

"Mr. Rahul Gandhi needs to explain this to the country as to why he has been standing with the forces which are anti-national. Why he, his mother and his party have shown sympathies towards terrorists and not their victims," Rao sought to know.

"Why has Rahul Gandhi never been seen consoling the families of our brave soldiers, who laid down their lives fighting our enemies? He has no shame in standing with people who are praising terrorists and celebrating their so-called martyrdom. I think in your defeat, Rahul Gandhi you have forgotten your duty towards the country," added Rao.

Rao also ridiculed Gandhi for bringing dishonour to his illustrious pedigree through such irresponsible actions.

The Congress vice-president had on February 13 visited the JNU campus to support the students after Kanhaiya Kumar was arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly raising anti-national slogans at an event held on the campus on February 9 to commemorate 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.
