Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday credited both Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and party president Amit Shah for the Bharatiya Janata Party's performance in the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand respectively.
"We are satisfied with the result of both states. We want to give credit to our Prime Minister, our party president, our workers, and I want to express my gratitude to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand," said Singh.
As per latest trends, the BJP is likely to emerge as the single largest party in Jharkhand as it is leading in 39 seats. The BJP's closest competitor, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), is ahead in 20 seats. The Congress is placed at a distant third, leading in just seven seats.
Out of the 87 constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP is leading in 25 seats, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in 28, the National Conference (NC) in 15, the Congress in 12, and others in seven seats.
