Addressing the inauguration of the Phase Two of the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the museum inaugurated was a great attempt to bring the past back to life and the publications released were not books, but were 'Granths' that would leave a mark in history.
"I request everyone to visit this Rashtrapati Bhavan museum. It's a great attempt to revive history. Whoever visits this museum will not only be able to know about history but will actually live in history," says the Prime Minister.
As President Pranab Mukherjee completed four years in the office today, praising the contribution made by him as "immense", the Prime Minister said, "I extend my heartiest greetings to President Mukherjee on completion of his four years in office. He has contributed a lot to the nation and also gave a lot to the Rashtrapati Bhavan."
"We learn from President Mukherjee how people from diverse political backgrounds can work together. I was new to Delhi and to this environment; President Mukherjee guided me on many subjects like a mentor. Only a few people get this privilege," said the Prime Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, various scheme of the Central government like renewable energy, water conservation and digital India have been implemented at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The museum depicts the story of the planning and construction of Rashtrapati Bhavan, the British Viceroys who occupied the building till 1947, freedom movement, transfer of power and formation of the Republic.
The life and work of all the Presidents since 1950, the beauty and environment of the campus are also featured in it. It has an Art Gallery for holding temporary exhibitions.
Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the museum in presence of President Mukherjee, Vice President M. Hamid Ansari, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and other dignitaries.
