Real Madrid is reportedly attempting at signing a new deal with Spanish footballer Xabi Alonso following speculations about the player's move to Chelsea.

Alonso has a year left on his contract with Real but Chelsea new manager Jose Mourinho might lure him to join the Stamford Bridge, the Daily star reports.

Alonso, who already has had Premier League experience during his five-year stint at Liverpool might sign the Chelsea deal also because Real president Florentino Perez has not yet agreed on a deal with Alonso's representatives according to some sources in Spain.

The report said that Mourinho had worked with Alonso in his managerial capacity at the Real and believes that the Spanish midfielder can be a great asset to Chelsea.
