17 Grand Slam titles holder Roger Federer is reportedly enjoying the good life and considers himself to be more laid back than at any time in his career, as he plays in a U.S. Open warm up at the Rogers Cup.
The Swiss tennis ace said that he sees the positive side of things this day, having claimed 17 Grand Slam titles at 33 and has a family of four children after his wife gave birth to twin boys in May.
Federer said that when he was younger he felt much more pressure and felt like he had to do what people said, and would also listen to everything, Stuff.co.nz reported.
Now, he added that he kinds of goes his own pace, and really enjoys it in the process.
Federer got off to a fine start in Toronto on Thursday, advancing to the third round with a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Canadian wildcard Peter Polansky. The second-seeded Swiss star is going for his third title of the year.
World number three Federer does not feel the obligation to play as many tournaments as he once did and is taking a simpler approach to the game, the report added.
Federer said that he feels like he does not really have to prove anything to anybody, even though people are always going to disagree with that.
