Retired South African Test captain Graeme Smith has expressed his desire to play a future role with Cricket South Africa (CSA) to meet 'certain challenges'.
Smith, who retired after the final day of the third Test against South Africa, also revealed that the seeds for his decision to retire, now after well over a decade at the helm, had been sown when Gary Kirsten, also a former team-mate, had stepped down as South Africa's coach.
According to Sport24, Smith said that he feels he has gained a lot of experience both as a captain and a player and believes he still has a lot to offer to South African cricket, for which he would love to play a role with CSA in the future.
Stating that he will be a big supporter of the team for the rest of his life, Smith also said that he would cherish the relationships he has developed within this team, adding that a strong team culture and diversity has been their strength and has helped them earn many victories around the world.
