Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo has smashed Formula One's driver lap record in the latest episode of Top Gear, outclassing Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton by seven tenths of a second.
Ricciardo, who is the latest in a long line of Formula One drivers to be invited into the show to take part in the 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car' challenge, took the show's big-standard Suzuki Liana around the Top Gear Test Track in a stunning 1minutes 42.1 seconds.
Ricciardo was a whopping seven tenths of a second faster than Hamilton's previous benchmark which had stood for two years, the BBC reported.
Ricciardo had to skip out on the final day of Formula One's first pre-season test last Wednesday, where new teammate Daniil Kvyat was scheduled to drive, to film his lap, the report added.
