Rio Olympics: Vijender Singh extends best wishes to Indian contingent

India's biggest-ever contingent - which has grown from 83 at London to 119 in Rio de Janeiro - faces a formidable task to improve on the six medals won in 2012

Indian boxing champion Vijender Singh extended his best wishes to the Indian team which is gearing up to shine at the Rio Olympics and called on the contingent to make the nation proud by winning medals.

"Extend all my wishes to the Indian contingent at Rio including the athletes, coaches and the staff. Come back with medals," Vijender told ANI here.

Reacting to the Indian men hockey team refusing to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympics as they did not have the appropriate kits, the boxer added that all the demands and the requirements of the players must be met immediately, as they have reached that stage after a lot of struggle.
