Wicket-keeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who did not enjoy memorable innings in the Nidahas T20 Tri-series, is now working to reform his skills with the help of Indian team's head coach Ravi Shastri ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL).
Pant, who has a record of slamming the fastest century by an Indian in first-class cricket during a Ranji Trophy match, scored only 23 and 7 in the two T20 matches in Sri Lanka before being dropped.
"I have worked on my skills and fitness. I have spoken to my coach Tarak Sinha a lot, spoke to Ravi Shastri after the recent Sri Lanka series and am trying to implement all that in my game," Pant told reporters here.
"We had a good interaction. The atmosphere in the dressing room was quite good. I got to learn a lot and with that, I will try to come back harder," the 21-year-old quipped.
Pant, who has played legendary under Rahul Dravid in his previous stint with the Delhi Daredevils, will not look forward to getting new learnings from Australian great Ricky Ponting and captain Gautam Gambhir in the 11th edition of the IPL.
Heaping praises on the coach, Pant said, "Anytime which plays in IPL, aims to win the cup and same is with our captain Gautam Gambhir. Also, our coach Ricky Ponting has the same mindset. Ricky sir gives you a lot of positive vibes which is best for the team. So, I am expecting that things will change this season."
"The coaches can work on your mindset but at the end of the day it is the player, who has to give his hundred percent for the team," Pant added.
Talking about player behaviour on the field, Pant said, "At this young age I am open to learning from everywhere. Cricket is 'gentleman's game' and thus, should be played in that spirit only.
