The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Monday criticised Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kailash Vijayvargiya for comparing Shatrughan Sinha with a dog, accusing the latter of lowering the level of public discourse.

RJD spokesperson Manoj Jha said that the BJP leader should publically apologise for his remark.

"Something has fundamentally gone wrong with the BJP leaders, they are going berserk. They are lowering the level of discourse. Kailash Vijayvargiya ji has committed a blunder, he should apologise. He has forgotten limits of civility. This calls for a public apology, nothing less," Jha told ANI.

Vijayvargiya had earlier expressed his disappointment over Shatrughan Sinha's remarks over BJP's dismal performance in the Bihar Assembly polls, comparing him to a dog walking past a car and thinking that the car was following it.

Shtrughan Sinha on Sunday said ignoring him in Bihar had cost his party a humiliating defeat.

"You removed deserving people. You kept 'Bihari Babu' away from Bihar," Sinha had said.

The Mahagathbandhan won 178 seats in Bihar, a commanding two-third majority in the 243-member assembly. The Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies had to settle for a mere 58 seats.
