Rodrigo Santoro would be playing the role of Biblical figure Jesus Christ in MGM's retelling of classic tale 'Ben Hur.'
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the MGM and Paramount project already stars Jack Huston as the Jewish prince, who is betrayed into slavery by Messala, played by Toby Kebbell, and Morgan Freeman as the man who trains Ben-Hur how to win at chariot-racing. Sofia Black D'Elia and Ayelet Zurer are also in the cast.
The film, which is an adaptation of the Lew Wallac's 1880 novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ, would be helmed by Timur Bekmambetov, and is anticipated to commence filming in Europe this winter and spring.
The book was also adapted in 1959 in a Charlston Heston epic which had won 11 Oscars.
