Real Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo has told his former club Manchester United that he is keen on a return, which could happen in 2014.

According to The Guardian, the Premier League champions have explored the possibilities behind the scenes of bringing the player back from Real Madrid.

United are motivated by the clear messages they have received about his affinity for the club and consider what he says to be genuine, the report said.

Their information is that, realistically, they think he would be tempted to spend possibly the last three or four years of his professional career in Manchester, the report added.
