Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney said that he and his team had to take responsibility for the club's current standings at the sixth place in the Premiere League.
Rooney, who signed a five and a half year deal last week with Manchester United, reportedly said that they were better than they currently were and as a team they would have to take responsibility for the league position they were in.
According to the BBC, Wayne also added that it was important for them to finish the season strongly but even more important to get into fourth spot and perform well in the Champions League.
United has won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five league games and are currently 15 points adrift of leaders Chelsea and 11 points adrift Liverpool in fourth place with 11 games left to play, the report said.
Rooney reportedly remains confident about the team having a strong run in Europe's Premier League, despite the club's current disappointing form and he mentioned that the year Chelsea won the Champions League, it got out of the competition nearly three times.
United, who won the Champions League in 2008 and lost twice to Barcelona in 2009 and 2011; face Olympiakos in Athens on Tuesday in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie.
