Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has reportedly said that he would not be satisfied if he finished his career without tasting the Champions League glory for another time.
Rooney has lifted the trophy in the competition with United in 2008, before finishing on the losing side in the final against Barcelona in 2009 and 2011.
On the eve of the first leg of United's last 16 tie away to Greek champions Olympiakos, Rooney said that one always wants to win the trophy, adding that to win is never enough, especially at the club, News 24 reports.
The striker further said that a player wants to win it every year, but that is impossible, adding that if they go into the finals, it would be great as it would be an opportunity to win another trophy.
According to the report, United haven't looked like potential European champions this season, falling 15 points off the pace in the Premier League and crashing out of both domestic cup competitions, but Rooney said that that their objectives remained the same.
Rooney said that watching rivals hasn't daunted him, but whetted his appetite for the competition.
The report said that with United 11 points adrift of Liverpool in the race for a top-four place in the league, they might need to win the Champions League to qualify for next season's competition, but Rooney believed that the Olympiakos tie could act as a springboard to a successful run-in.
Rooney stressed that it was important that they finish the season strongly and take that momentum into next year, but more importantly they try and get into that fourth spot and try and do well in the Champions League, the report added.
