Additional Director General of Police (ADP) Ram Singh Meena on Saturday said that the police are investigating the cause of the explosion in Roorkee and added that efforts are being made to trace where the explosive came from.
"A few children said that the student had picked up something which later exploded. Our team and bomb disposal squad are investigating the cause of the explosion. We are working on the case and are searching from where the bomb came," said Meena.
Earlier today, the Uttarakhand police informed that the explosive material picked up by the child from a garbage dump outside DAV College resulting in a blast, could be a diffused bomb.
A child was killed in an explosion that took place at a garbage dump near D.A.V. College at Roorkee.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat condemned the blast and appealed to the people to maintain calm.
